Koryak Autonomous RegionKoryak language - one of the Paleoasian languages (Luorawetlan group). Spoken in the Koryak autonomous region. The number of the Koryaks in Russia is 8,9 thousand. 52,4 % of them regard Koryak as their mother tongue, 46,8 % Russian.

The Koryak written language, created in 1931 on the basis of the Latin alphabet, was switched into Cyrillic in 1936. The literary language is based on the Chavchuven dialect.
