AdygeaAdyge language - one of the Caucasian languages (Abkhaz-Adyge group). Spoken in the Republic of Adygea and the Krasnodar region. The number of the Adyges in Russia is 122,9 thousand. 95,2 % of them regard Adyge as their mother tongue, 4,6 % Russian.

The Adyge literary language was formed after the October revolution. An alphabet based on the Arabic script was created in 1918. The Latin script was adopted in 1927, and Cyrillic has been used since 1938. The literary language is based on the Temirgoyev dialect.
